SPRING MANUFACTURING

Mattress spring manufacturing equipment is mainly used to produce the innerspring of mattress. We know that the innerspring is made from a steel coil spring system. Currently, there are two different methods of mattress spring construction in industry, one is pocket spring coil, the other is Bonnell coil.

The pocket spring coil method, or Marshall coil method, insers single barrel shaped springs into individual pockets (of nonwoven fiber material), then encases and glues them together to form an innerspring layer. This method allows the spring coils to work independently without affecting adjacent springs. The innersprings are covered with a variety of padding materials to make the mattress surface more comfortable, including foams, fiber, or possibly additional layers of smaller steel springs. Thicker mattress coil wire will make the mattress stronger and thinner gauge wire ridges fewer. The greater the number of coils in the mattress, the higher the quality of the mattress because of the better distribution and support for the end user.

The Bonnell method, in which a series of hourglass-shaped wire coils and crosshead supports are connected together, is one of the simplest methods to produce mattress springs.
